Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin is the best-known proverb in the Irish language. Word for word it is "there is no hearth like your own hearth"; it is used exactly where English says "there's no place like home". The word tinteán means a hearth or fireplace, not a house — the proverb defines home as the fire at the centre of it rather than the building around it. Thinteán is lenited after the possessive do (your), which is why the same word appears twice in two spellings.
